GradesStudents will receive one of three grades: pass, low pass or fail based on their performance in the practice teaching and courses. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a TEFL certificate and may request a letter of recommendation.

I. Practice Teaching Requirements:

  • Planning and preparing class lessons
  • Using teaching materials effectively
  • Developing rapport with the students
  • Using a variety of classroom techniques
  • Evaluating one's own teaching

II. Course Requirements:

  • Demonstrating techniques through presentations and peer teaching.
  • Observing ESL classes
  • Attending class, actively participating in class and completing all assignments.

III. Grading

Practice Teaching is worth 55% of the final course grade. Coursework is worth 45% of the final course grade. Specifically, Skills and Techniques 1 is worth 15%, Skills and Techniques 2 and Lesson Planning are each worth 10% and Grammar Review and Seminar Topics are each worth 5% of the final coursework grade. At least 80% must be "pass" in order for a student to receive a "pass" for the entire MTTP course.
