The core instructors all have master's degrees in ESL (English as a Second Language) with more than 10 years of professional teaching experience. Our instructors use a hands-on approach with fun, dynamic activities. This gives you the chance to experience and try out new strategies and techniques in a supportive learning atmosphere, while gaining both skills and confidence as a new teacher.
INTERNATIONAL
Midwest's TEFL certificate program is offered by WESLI (Wisconsin English as a Second Language Institute), an accredited institution. WESLI teaches English to over 100 international students from Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Africa. You will have the opportunity to observe and teach a class of nonnative English speakers, while meeting students from around the world. Being part of an ESL school allows you to study in an international environment right here in the heart of the US. (Visit the
WESLI site)
WELCOMING
Midwest started in 1999 with the idea that anyone with an appropriate level of English skills and the desire to teach English can do so, given professional, practical training. Trainees have ranged in age from 20 to 65 with many different goals, such as learning a new language overseas, spicing up retirement, trying out a new career, and empowering students in developing nations. Both native and nonnative speakers of English have graduated from Midwest and have found jobs teaching EFL overseas. Although most trainees start the course with little or no teaching experience, practicing teachers also take the course in order to gain new skills and certification. Accommodations are made for trainees that are differently-abled.
LOCATION
Midwest Teacher Training Program is conveniently located in the heart of the Midwest, and in the center of
Madison, Wisconsin, a progressive university town with a stimulating
learning environment. |
